Jeremy Spurgeon

Jeremy was born on July 9th 1971 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He continued the tradition of bluegrass musicians in his family. A tradition that began with his Great, Great Grandfather "Pap", who was a fiddle player in Kentucky. Pap had a bluegrass group that included Jeremy's Great Grandfather on mandolin, his other son on guitar, and his daughter on fiddle as well. They played for dances and get-togethers around their community. Jeremy's Grandmother was an accomplished piano player and his father is a bluegrass banjo picker.

Jeremy began his music career at an early age. His father started teaching him to play rhythm guitar at age eight so he could accompany him on banjo. Later, he began to learn to play banjo as well.

In his early teens his musical interest changed and he began to learn and play keyboard. He and Lon began playing together and they started writing original pop tunes with Jeremy on keyboard and Lon on electric guitar.

In his late teens, Jeremy devoted most of his musical attention to composing instrumental electronic music in a band he and Lon formed called Matrix Mirage.

After a fews years with little to no activity, Jeremy and Lon joined Jeremy's brother in a southern rock group called the Eric Taylor Band. Jeremy played electric bass with the group and helped write some of the forty plus original tunes. This was a great experience because it allowed Jeremy to travel all around the area and perform in many different venues.

When the Eric Taylor Band disbanded in 2001, Jeremy and Lon formed the Spurgeon Boys. The Spurgeon Boys became the house band for the McTeer House bed and breakfast in Prospect Tennessee, where they played every Friday evening for dinner guests. The McTeer house has since closed their doors.

Jeremy and Lon continue to play and write songs, performing around the area and for private parties.

Jeremy continues to hone is skills as a singer, song writer, and musician. Who knows where the next twenty years will lead him.
